Cristina is a researcher, designer, writer and artist based in London. She currently works as a Senior Design Researcher at Accenture Song (formerly Fjord) in parallel with her column contributions to MOLD magazine, covering design, climate action and behavioural change.

Design, behavioural science, environmentalism and the fundamentals of living - from spaces to sustenance - form the foundation of her practice. Originally trained as an architect, Cristina started her career at Adjaye Associates in London before expanding her practice across a variety of design disciplines including R&D, behavioural research and sustainable product development. Outputs include architectural research projects, trend forecasting and behavioural analysis reports.

Cristina’s thematic artwork explores coexisting contrasts, the beauty found in the informality of daily life, and mortality. She credits a great amount of inspiration to her faith, upbringing and cultural background (born in the US to Colombian American and Spanish parents, and raised in London). Printed material is consistent across her work, and an ode to her late grandfather Cándido Carbajo López who founded a printing company in Murcia, Spain, after the Spanish Civil War.

Collaboration is central to Cristina’s practice, having worked closely with architects, material scientists, nutritionists and chefs to bring a range of projects to life. Her work has been featured at the Alimentarium Food Museum 2020-2021, Victoria & Albert Museum Exhibition Road Festival 2019 and the London Design Festival 2018.

Cristina holds a Double Masters MA + MSc in Global Innovation Design from the Royal College of Art and Imperial College London and a BArch in Architecture from University of Nottingham. A remix of artistic experimentation with rigorous scientific testing has been connecting thread throughout Cristina’s academic and professional experience, that continues to shape her work today.
